Talking to a psychotherapist, family therapist or counsellor can help ease psychological and emotional anxiety; it can bring about positive change and can generate a greater sense of psychological wellbeing.

At the Psychotherapy Clinic, Therese is a professionally trained and experienced psychotherapist offering an environment within which it is possible to talk openly, confidentially and without judgement about emotionally troubling issues.
Therese works in accordance with the professional and ethical codes of conduct outlined by the Association for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in Ireland, APPI, The Irish Council for Psychotherapy and the European Association of Psychotherapy.

Psychotherapy & Clinical Practice

Therese is a practising Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and is a graduate of Psychology from Queens University, Belfast. She holds a post graduate diploma in Psychoanalysis from Dublin Business School, a Masters Degree (First Class Honours) in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and is an accredited member of Irish Council for Psychotherapy, ICP. Therese is also a Registered Practitioner member of the Association for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in Ireland.

Therese is passionate about mental health and established The Psychotherapy Clinic in 2012 to proactively address the dearth of psychotherapeutic interventions and supports, which exists in Ireland, for family care givers, older adults and couples following a diagnosis of a neurodegenerative illness.

Therese has a broad range of experience working with adults with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, unhappiness, hopelessness and the challenges of care giving. Her research interests include the effect of long term care giving on carers and on the couple relationship. She currently facilitates a Bereavement Support Group in North Wicklow.

The Consultancy Practice

Therese evaluates and independently reviews Social Care Programmes on behalf of NGOs in Ireland.

She regularly provides training, education and consultancy services to NGOs including The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Family Carers Ireland, Acquired Brain Injury Ireland, The Care Alliance Network and Wicklow Dementia Support. Her services include design, development and delivery of bespoke education and training packages regarding the psychological and emotional impact of long term care giving as well as self-care and well-being strategies.

Therese provides training to NGO staff members working directly with people with a neurodegenerative or life limiting illness in the areas of support group facilitation, boundary setting and self-care.

Therese a former Vice Chair of The Association of Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy in Ireland and a former Chair of its Education Committee.
