Therese Maguire, Clinic Director, met with students on the ‘Dementia Champions’ module at Dublin City University to provide an insight into her work with dementia caregivers. Therese highlighted some of the types of issues that emerge in the clinic for carers and provided an overview of how she intervenes therapeutically. The presentation was followed by a lively and enthusiastic discussion and all at The Psychotherapy Clinic would like to thank Dr Kate Irving and her students for the invitation and the very warm welcome.
Therese will also meet Psychotherapy students in DCU to discuss how psychotherapy with people with dementia and their care givers is an underexplored area in Ireland and one that can offer enormous professional satisfaction for psychotherapists operating in the field.
